Shaping Takayama’s Future with AI: Reporting the Potential of “Vibe Coding” and UK PR Activities to the City Government

On Christmas Eve, we visited the Mayor’s office at Takayama City Hall and had a meaningful discussion with Mayor Tanaka about NPO MOSHIMOSHI’s activities and future prospects.

Takayama, December 24, 2025 – Representatives from NPO MOSHIMOSHI, Mr. Shimomoto and Mr. Narumi, visited Takayama City Hall to hold a meeting with Mayor Tanaka and Vice Mayor Shimizu. The discussion focused on the group’s recent international activities and the introduction of innovative technology to the local community.

Activity Report: UK Visit (November) — The team shared details of their promotional activities for NPO MOSHIMOSHI at Manchester Metropolitan University. By distributing traditional waribashi (disposable chopsticks) and engaging in discussions with approximately 20 students, the team discovered a remarkably high level of interest in international internships and study programs in Japan.

The report also highlighted an inspection of York, England. Comparing it to Takayama, the representatives noted York’s success in maintaining a beautiful and unified streetscape while ensuring that tourism activities are spread across the entire city area. Key observations included York’s vibrant nightlife, the abundance of dining and entertainment facilities accessible to people of all ages, and their highly engaging, entertainment-focused tourist guides—providing valuable insights for Takayama’s future tourism strategy.

The Potential and Popularity of “Vibe Coding” — A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the potential of “Vibe Coding” (natural language-based programming). Mr. Narumi, who leads Algorithmi Inc., reported that his company has already successfully developed applications using this method, leading to significant improvements in operational efficiency and standardization.

The team also announced plans to host Vibe Coding workshops specifically for the residents of Takayama, aiming to bring the benefits of this cutting-edge technology to the local public.

“Takayama is not just a place to visit — it is a place to belong. The warmth of the community here transcends language and cultural barriers.”
